Individual Piano Lessons

As a private music teacher I teach individual, one-on-one piano lesson each week. My lessons are once a week. My curriculum is very large and rich. I teach piano basics as well as more advanced musical skills. Piano basics include learning how to play piano and learning how to read music. Large variety of repertoire and finger-strengthening exercises are part of my piano basics teaching category.

In addition to these piano basics and fundamentals, my students learn how to read piano music, exercise their eyes and ears to become more musically skilled, and learn musical theory, history and improvisation from their first lessons. I put together music lesson plans for every student individually. Depending on the student’s age and curriculum level, I have music lesson plans for elementary students, music lesson plans for middle school students, and music lesson plans for high school students. I also have general music lesson plans for adult students who want to learn how to play piano.

In addition to their repertoire, students are assigned different music worksheets, finger-strengthening exercises, piano scales, and exercises for reading music as homework after each class period. I use many different piano lesson books to match different levels of students and make sure those piano books are not too easy or too difficult for each student.

I also teach students proper piano practice techniques. My students get practice logs each week. These practice logs help students keep track of their practice time and move forward in their music lesson plans.

Group Music Lessons

In addition to the individual weekly piano lessons, I also teach monthly group music lessons. All of my students from my piano music studio get together for educational fun and games as well as quizzes and exams. During these group lessons students review everything that they have learned at their individual private piano lessons as well as learn new musical concepts. I take a roll of a piano teacher and music tutor during these group lessons. Our group lessons cover music notes lessons, music theory lessons, and music history lessons. Music notes lessons include classroom music games and music activities that help students learn the location and names of notes on the keyboard and on the staff. Music notes lessons are a fun way to get students more comfortable with reading music better and faster. Music theory lessons also include music activities and games which help students to understand music theory better. We review concepts covered during students’ individual piano lessons and learn new musical concepts through music activities during the group lessons.

In order to make my lessons not only educational but also fun and interactive, I have set up a unique music studio which has piano room as well as a computer and whiteboards, all of which are tools used during our lessons. This unique music studio setup helps me teach my students in ways that are understandable and approachable to them. Students get to draw on the whiteboards, do different kinds of music activities, and learn to work in teams as well as be able to answer questions individually. As a music teacher I love to see my students understand the concepts that I teach to them. I also enjoy seeing my students get creative and “think outside the box” during our group lessons.

Recitals, Performances, Competitions

At least twice a year we host student recitals and performances with my music studio. Sometimes these recitals are formal performances where friends and family gather to hear my amazing piano students play different kinds of music. Other times these musical performances are more of competitions where students compete for a prize. Every time we have such musical recitals or competitions, students receive grade report cards, certificates and seldom gift awards for their progress. Students know which level they came from and which level they are moving on to. This helps them stay on track and motivates them to move forward.

Who Can Take Private Music Lessons

I accept any student from the age of four and up. I have lots of experience in working with kids, ages four to twelve, and I have taught adult students, ages forty and up, for some time. I have music lesson plans for elementary students, music lesson plans for middle school students, music lesson plans for high school students, and music lesson plans for adult students. I use a large variety of piano books to match different levels of my students’ age and skill set. As students get older and progress to the next level of study, I switch piano books to match the student’s new level.

Teaching Materials

I use different piano method books, some of which include the large variety of Alfred’s Piano Library and method books by Nancy and Randall Faber. The piano books that I choose for my students are affordable, fun, and most importantly they fit the different learning abilities and needs of each student individually. I understand that every student has their own learning style and therefore I choose my music teaching materials very carefully. Generally, my students move through the piano method books fairy quickly and we progress into playing more difficult repertoire.

My Mission and Goal

My piano lessons are fun and affordable. I set my standards high, meaning, I believe students should learn and develop intellectually at a more advanced and challenging to them level rather than an easy level. I challenge my students not only to learn how to play piano but become good musicians, learn to multitask, and develop intellectual as well as social skills. Students also grow a stronger self-esteem and confidence through the solo recitals and group lessons. During the private and group music lessons, I often include music activities and games that help students solve problems quickly and think critically. Developing a creative mind is also a benefit of taking piano lessons!

My goal is to make piano learning a fun and unforgettable experience, in addition to helping each student grow and develop musical skills.
